Internationally acclaimed vocalist & multi-instrumentalist Clara Sanabras presents a unique retrospective concert exploring time as both memory and myth.

Journeying through centuries of music and ideas, this one-off performance traverses themes of both Cathar mysticism and Catalan resistance, touches upon William Shakespeare, and traces the evolution of the Elizabethan notion of “Her Majesty’s Secret Service” through to the iconic songs of James Bond. In the past, Clara has also collaborated with Chorus of Dissent, most recently for the 2024 performance of her work  ‘Instinct of Hope’ and in 2014 with ‘A Hum About Mine Ears’. Clara has also contributed to numerous Hollywood soundtracks, including The Hunger Games and The Hobbit. Her musical career has taken her to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, from the Royal Albert Hall and La Scala in Milan to the Glastonbury Festival and the Sydney Opera House.

Clara is a singular force in the music world. Her works combine a personal and melodic narrative with elements of folklore and even astrology. Her inspiration draws on our inescapable ancestral links through to the modern world and ‘Musings on Orthogonal Time’ takes us on a spellbinding musical time travel between the past and the future. This one-off performance on Saturday 11 July promises all of the above, but live, present and in the round, amongst the extraordinary acoustics of St Matthias Church.
